Here’s something that’s easy to miss: not every device upgrade costs extra. Some devices are eligible for a switch to newer kit with no increase to your payments — but it isn’t always obvious from the portal which ones qualify.

🔌New Laptops Unlikely to Include a Charger
One of the most common surprises during a rollout is opening the box and finding no charger inside. More manufacturers now sell laptops charger-free as part of wider packaging and sustainability changes — and it catches a lot of teams out.
We always make it clear on our website whether a charger’s included, but it’s an easy detail to miss when you’re ordering in volume, and it can hold up a rollout if users are left waiting.

💷 Price Updates – Microsoft 365 and Apple Products
Two pricing changes to be aware of this month — both are driven by the manufacturers rather than by us, and applied across the market.
Microsoft 365
Microsoft has increased the price of Microsoft 365 licences from 1 July, so your subscription costs will adjust in line with the new pricing from your next billing cycle. The increases vary by product and a few are unchanged — just reply and I’ll send the detailed breakdown for the licences you’re on.
Moving to an annual commitment, while still paying monthly, typically works out cheaper than standard month-to-month pricing. If it’d help, we can review your current licensing and see whether switching would bring your monthly spend down.
Apple Products
Following a global announcement, Apple is raising prices by roughly 15% across a range of products.
It affects the iPad Air and iPad Pro, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, Mac mini and selected Mac Studio models, and Neo. There are no changes to iPhone or Apple Watch pricing, and as a rule, devices with higher RAM configurations are seeing the larger increases.
What this means for you:
- New enquiries and quotes reflect the updated pricing straight away.
- For devices already on order, we may in some cases need to reprice and reissue paperwork.
We’re updating pricing across our systems now and working closely with affected customers to keep everything transparent. If you have a rollout planned, just email me and I’ll make sure it’s accounted for.
⚡ The Latest Intel 3rd Gen Ultra Laptops
A fresh wave of laptops has landed on Intel’s 3rd Gen Ultra processors, built for better efficiency, stronger performance and more capable on-device AI.
If you’re looking to standardise on a new generation of devices with better longevity, these are a good fit:

📘 Surface 13″ vs 13.8″: Same Size, Different Machines
On paper, 0.8 of an inch sounds laughable, but these machines have surprisingly different features. Picking on screen size alone is an easy way to end up with the wrong device.
Moreover, on a lease, the weekly price difference between the two is tiny, but buy them outright and the gap is hundreds of pounds. So leasing makes it easy to spec up to the right machine without the upfront hit.

🔌 Choosing the Right Docking Station for Your Team
Docking stations rarely get much thought, until the wrong dock starts generating support tickets. Get it right and it’s one cable per desk that keeps monitors, accessories and chargers all running fuss-free.
The catch is that compatibility, power delivery and multi-monitor support vary a lot between models. Our Docking Station Guide for Business walks through what to look for, so you can roll out the same setup across your team with confidence.

📲 Dave Portal — What’s New This Quarter
We’ve rolled out several updates to the Dave portal, all aimed at giving you more control and less admin across your estate:
- Cost centres are now live — allocate devices to cost centres for cleaner internal tracking and reporting, which makes life easier when you’re managing budgets across teams or departments.
- Subscriptions consolidated into a single monthly invoice — one of the most requested changes, now live for one-direct-debit customers.
- CSV bulk ordering — for regular bulk purchases, you can now place orders using a provided CSV template. You can speak to me to get this set up.

You may notice a small but meaningful change from us: our Account Managers are now Relationship Managers. The new title reflects a wider focus on long-term support, lifecycle planning, and continuity.
I’ve linked a PDF showing your dedicated Relationship Manager (me) and support team, so you always know exactly who to contact and how we support your organisation.

🧠 Demystifying the New Intel CPU Names
Intel’s latest processor names have caused some understandable confusion when comparing devices. The familiar i5 / i7 format has gone, replaced by Core, Core Ultra, and new generation numbers — all at once.

🍎 Free Mac Migration with M5 MacBook Pro
If you’re considering a move to Apple, we’re offering a free Mac migration when you lease an M5 MacBook Pro. It’s designed to remove the usual friction of switching platforms or upgrading an existing Mac fleet.

🍏 Apple Product Changes – What’s Different
There have been a few recent changes across the Mac range:
- Mac mini no longer offers a 256GB storage option
- Mac Pro has been discontinued
- Mac Studio no longer includes the top‑end configuration
The main thing to note is that Apple pricing has stayed stable, unlike many recent PC price rises. If you’re planning over longer refresh cycles, that consistency makes budgeting much easier.

🌍 Global Product Shortages – Why Some Devices Aren’t Showing Yet
You may have noticed fewer new laptop models appearing recently, despite several big announcements across the market. The reason is ongoing global supply shortages.
Vendors like Microsoft, Samsung, and Dell have announced new devices — including recent Surface updates, the Galaxy Book6, and new XPS models but many of these haven’t physically reached distribution yet.
Until supply settles, some new models simply aren’t available to add or quote reliably. We wanted to be open about this, as it’s an industry-wide issue affecting choice and timelines, not just us.
As soon as stock is ready for business rollout, we’ll make these options available, and you’ll be among the first to know.
🆕 New Products Now Available for Teams
We’ve added a few new options that work well for team deployments.
- 5X MacBook Neo Desktop Bundle – This bundle turns the MacBook Neo into a full desktop-style setup, including a Dell 24″ monitor, an Alogic laptop stand, and a dock.
The bundle is supplied in sets of five, which makes it easier to standardise across a team. If you need larger quantities, we can scale this up and align it with your onboarding or refresh plans.
- Lenovo ThinkPad X9 15 – A strong all-rounder for business users. The ThinkPad X9‑15 combines the latest Intel Core Ultra processors with fast LPDDR5X memory, making it well suited to teams running multiple applications and business‑critical workloads throughout the day.
- HP EliteDesk 8 Mini – A compact desktop designed for environments where space is limited — shared offices, reception areas, meeting rooms, or fixed desks. As a Copilot+ PC, it’s built to support the AI features being introduced in Windows 11.
All of these devices are available through Devices for Teams on a predictable monthly cost. If you’d like to look at suitability, pricing, or rollout options, just let me know.
📌 Microsoft 365 — Upcoming Licensing Changes
Microsoft has confirmed price changes coming in July, so May is a good time to review whether your current Microsoft 365 licences still align with how your teams work.
We’ll be in touch again closer to July, but if you’d rather review this sooner before you’re caught by an unexpected increase, just reply to this email.

🤖 Copilot Offers Extended to 30 June
We’re seeing growing interest in Copilot across teams, and Microsoft has extended the current offers until 30 June 2026.
- Copilot can now be bundled with Business Standard or Business Premium (up to 300 seats). This is now up to 30% cheaper than the previous option of having it separately.
- If you can commit to 10 or more users before 30 June 2026, then you will receive a further 20% off. We can change existing Business Standard and Premium licences to take advantage of this.
A quick reminder of the difference:
- Copilot for Microsoft 365 – Works securely with your organisation’s data i.e. emails, documents, meetings, and files.
- Copilot (Free) – Uses public web data only. Useful for general tasks, but doesn’t connect to internal business information.
If you’re already on Microsoft 365 and exploring how Copilot could support productivity across teams, this is one of the better pricing windows we’ve seen.
🖥️ Custom PCs for Specialist Workloads
For some teams, off‑the‑shelf devices aren’t enough. If you have users with heavier requirements, we can design and supply custom-built PCs aligned to your exact needs.
We regularly support builds that require:
- Specific GPUs, including NVIDIA
- Intel or AMD processors
- AI, data science, or 3D modelling workloads
- High-end configurations designed for longevity rather than short-term use

Price Increases Expected
Not the news we’d like to start the year with, but we’ve been notified of anticipated
cost increases from Lenovo, HP, and Dell — all projecting price rises of
10–15% due to higher component costs.
ASUS has already increased prices twice in the last five weeks.
Apple rarely adjusts pricing on existing devices, but when new MacBooks launch later
this year, increases are expected there too.

Confusion around software versions and constant name changes have created uncertainty. Copilot is integrated—but not fully integrated—into Windows 11, and Copilot+ PCs, which you might expect to include the software, do not. Not to mention Google Gemini’s constant name changes!

At our recent Apple customer event, one of the most common questions we heard was, “What exactly is Boomerang?”. It turns out that while many of you have heard of it, the details of how it works—and why it matters—weren’t always clear. So here’s a quick explanation to help.
Boomerang is an add-on lifecycle management service that works alongside your existing leasing or Devices for Teams agreement. It’s designed to take the hassle out of managing devices when staff leave, projects wrap up, or your team structure changes. Instead of letting unused tech sit idle or scrambling to reconfigure it for someone new, Boomerang steps in to handle everything.
When a device is no longer needed, we’ll collect it—whether from your office or a remote worker’s home—securely wipe the data, store it in our ISO 27001-certified facility, and reconfigure it to your specifications. 📝 FRS 102 Leasing Changes – What You Need to Know for 2026
We wanted to flag an important update that may affect how your business reports leased IT equipment from January 2026. The upcoming changes to FRS 102 will require most leases to be recognised on the balance sheet, aligning more closely with IFRS 16 standards.
But here’s the good news: laptops, tablets, and similar IT devices will continue to qualify for the low-value asset exemption. This means your existing leasing arrangements with HardSoft can still be treated as a straightforward operating expense—no need to capitalise or complicate your financial statements.
This exemption is a huge win for SMEs and private entities, allowing you to preserve cash flow, avoid large upfront costs, and maintain predictable monthly budgeting. It’s also why leasing remains one of the most practical and cost-effective ways to equip your team with the latest tech.
