Bishop’s Stortford College Case Study

Bishop’s Stortford College turned to us to accelerate their digital transformation plan.

Quote from Andrew Pawlowicz, Director of IT Services: “Hardsoft is a very professional and friendly company. We have never had any issues with them and they are always open to discussing our support requirements. We are already talking to Hardsoft about our next overhaul of devices!”.

The School

“Large enough to provide an outstanding range of opportunities for developing well-rounded, skilful and happy young people, yet small enough for each individual to be known and nurtured.”.

Bishop’s Stortford College was founded in 1868 by a group of prominent Nonconformists (that is those belonging to protestant churches independent of the Church of England) in East Anglia.

The College is a wonderful place of learning – a place where boys and girls have exceptional opportunities to become fulfilled, skilful and happy young men and women. Ensuring this process of all-around growth – academically, morally, spiritually, athletically, and creatively – is their aim.

Every pupil is encouraged, taught and challenged to fulfil his or her true potential, by being immersed in an environment of discovery and wholehearted participation.

The IT challenge we had

In April 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Bishop’s Stortford College needed to accelerate its Digital transformation plans. They needed to quickly provide teachers with the ability to deliver online learning as global circumstances were driving a move away from the classroom.

Due to the nature of remote working at the time, the college was looking for a solution with a support solution that provided a fast turnaround with minimal administrative input.

The solution we got from Devices for Teams

Using our extensive experience in the education sector, we were able to quickly design and deliver a solution. Hardsoft supplied 135 Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga laptops across the faculty.

Using Microsoft Intune, zero-touch centralised deployment of all software was achieved and as the school was closing, Hardsoft distributed devices via both a convenient drop-in station at the school as well as some delivered directly to teachers’ homes.

Even though Hardsoft configured and deployed the devices and accompanying software, the College IT department still had full autonomy.

Our end result

With a strong supply chain, Hardsoft was able to access the required devices, install all relevant software and deliver to users well within the required timeframes.

This enabled both teachers and students to continue with their studies uninterrupted.

Both teachers and students alike were surprised and impressed with how easy it was to use their devices out of the box and were very happy with the devices provided.
